* Yvette Galliher *
YVETTE GALLIHER was born in Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. She was always interested in art as a child. However, painting began later when someone was kind enough to give her a set of oils. Now, painting is a way of life.
Being Art Director of the high school newspaper helped her find ways to pursue art education. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design, St. Petersburg Junior College, and classes and workshops at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art.
Yette is the winner of may awards and commissions, including twelve paintings exhibited by the National Museum of Art in Tokyo, Japan. Her work has been exhibited in invitational shows, galleries, and private collections across the U.S. and abroad.
For many years her work was featured at Studio Encanto, St. Petersburg, Florida, and is currently being displayed olined at EncantoArt.com.
Yvette finds that when she is painting, time stands still She is filled with a deep sense of peace, power, and joy. She enjoys working with bod colors and shapes and finds flowers and vegetables to be perfect topics for this concept. She creates a sese of intimacy by isolating her subjects and moving in for a close-up view.
Regarding her abstract work she quotes Edgar Degas, "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things." She says, "Nearly all of my techniques have resulted from encountering problems and looking for solutions. In this way, I have moved from a traditional approach to a philosophy of 'do whatever it takes to get the effect you need'."
Regardless of her subject matter, Yvette always uses exquisite techniques and subert blendig of colors to bring her subjects to life. Studio Encanto hopes you enjoy her work.
